Who We Are

Backroad Contracting Ltd. was established in 2006 and has worked throughout Fort St. John and Northeast British Columbia ever since. Based in Buick Creek, north of Fort St. John, the company is centrally located for the leases and access roads of the Montney and North Peace oilfield areas. Oilfield road maintenance and grading make up the bulk of the work, alongside civil construction, wellsite remediation and reclamation, hauling, mulching and fencing, and vegetation management.

Crews operate graders, excavators, dozers, packers, trucks, vegetation-management equipment and support equipment, so road work, earthworks, hauling, brush clearing and reclamation can be handled by one contractor rather than coordinated between several.

Nearly two decades in the same region means the crews know the roads, the leases and the conditions — freeze-up, breakup, heavy rain and the seasonal access windows that decide when work can realistically get done.

How We Work

Most projects start with a conversation about the site: what the ground is doing, what access looks like, what has to stay operating while the work happens, and what the finished result needs to be. From there the appropriate crew and equipment are matched to the job and scheduled around the client’s operations.

Backroad Contracting is based in Buick Creek and travels throughout Fort St. John and surrounding Northeast British Columbia, including remote industrial and resource locations reached by backroad and seasonal access. The Buick Creek base puts crews close to oilfield operations across the Montney and North Peace, so mobilization to wellsites and lease roads is short and direct.
